A Warm Welcome Please...

Eric and the Waco biplane that he and I had the chance to fly in while in Key West, FL

This is to announce that one of my good friends, Eric Jorgensen and his wife Ragan have just started a blog! Eric and I pal around on weekends when we have Reserve duty, and he has been up here and taken me flying. Welcome Eric and Ragan!

Ketchikan 2007 - 2

The road up to Brown Mountain was beautiful

We stopped by McD's for a lunch to go, and sat on the waterfront, watching the "traffic" such as this fishing boat.

One sight that is very common in Ketchikan is the ubiquitous floatplane. Here we see PacAir's N264P ramped up out of the waters of the Tongass Narrows.

A view of some of Ketchikan's waterfront, with the mountains behind climbing into the mist.

This fellow decided that sitting in the water was for the "birds" and picked a higher perch.

Naomi: The Mistake of Bitterness

Here is a link to an mp3 file of the Sunday School lesson I did this morning. It was based out of Ruth 1, and deals with the topic of bitterness. (The file is just over 3MB, so it might be best to right-click on the link and save it to the computer before playing it.)

Ketchikan 2007 - 1

In the waning days of September, I took some time off to head up to Ketchikan, AK, the place where I spent my childhood...

I drove north from Logan, UT up to Idaho Falls, ID where I caught a Horizon flight to Seattle (notice part of Horizon's logo reflected in the engine nacelle?). I arrived in Ketchikan on Friday night, Sep 28.

On Monday, after a nice weekend, Dad, Mom and I went out driving around Ward Lake, Harriet Hunt Lake and Brown Mountain.

You might not have guessed it, but it DID rain while I was there ;)

One Fall Day - Last Part

Here is the last set of five pics from my Sunday afternoon walk. I hope these have been a fair sampling of fall here in northern Utah. 'Tis my favorite season!

One Fall Day - Part Two

One Fall Day - Part One

Today I decided to take advantage of my afternoon, and try my hand at capturing some of the fading beauty of the autumnal foliage and vistas. I say fading, for the best colors occurred a week or two ago. Still, even non-optimum conditions may yield suprising photos, and I was pleased both at the results and the time spent, camera in hand, wandering around my neighborhood.
