Presidents' Day Weekend - Part 7

Later in the evening, several of us returned to Mallory Square to see if we could catch a real sunset (without the clouds). We parked at a NAS Key West annex that had free parking and walked down to the square. On the way we passed an amazing sight. It was a tree that had roots that ran down from the branches straight to the ground. An explanatory notice said that it was a banyan tree. Have any of you seen one of these before?

I've seen trees like that in Mexico. I didn't know what kind they were. We have a picture of Matthew & I standing in front of one in Puerto Vallarta.

Hmmmm . . . I wonder if they'd grow in the great Northwest?

I dunno...they were great for taking pictures of, but I don't know how many trees like that I'd like to have around. They look like they might be meat eaters!!! ;)
